It depends on the state you are hunting in.

In California we buy our tag, usually have to pay for access to a ranch (the one I went to has 276,000 acres) and look for a suitable target for 2 1/2 days. When you find your target, you take a deep breath, line up your scope, let half the breath out and squeeze the trigger shooting him 2" behind the ear. Then when the hog drops to its knees and your hunting buddies call out "hit him again" you pull the trigger once more but this time lining up on the left shoulder. Both shot were complete pass through and the second shot broke both shoulders. I now know that she would have soon been dead from the first shot but I think the guys just wanted to enjoy the follow-up shot from the Grendel.
