Here's another British operation with what appears to be more than one platoon:

We are obviously at cross purposes.

My understanding of the BA's normal practice was that routine "boots on the ground" patrols, which were the "daily routine" and formed the great majority of the missions, were carried out at section strength (maybe with some supplements).

Obviously, if a force was being sent out on a specific mission to attack a known target, they would go in platoon, or company, or whatever strength they thought was appropriate, and would take whatever fire support weapons they thought they might need, with artillery and air support laid on.

That would not alter the fact that a single cartridge replacing 5.56mm and 7.62mm in all infantry rifles, DMRs and LMGs in the company would still be a GPC as far as I'm concerned.
