Forgive me, please, if I sound a bit smart-assed, but folks in this forum tend to want to get to the individual weapon.

That's undoubtedly because this is a guns and ammo forum, not a strategy and logistics forum.

Individual weapons and machine guns will, of necessity, be the same for both full-scale war and counterinsurgency operations.
