Read that thread. There have been others like it. Basically, the lightweight 2.9 or 3.0 oz buffers that work well in .223 guns pushing 45-55gr pills through carbine length gas systems on 16" barrels are not ideal for Grendels pushing 120gr bullets out 16" barrels with mid-length gas systems. It might be working 100% for someone shooting in the hotter weather, or a different gas port diameter, or a bunch of other variables, but I think the consensus is that the Grendel usually needs a heavier buffer, standard M16 weight carrier, especially from the 16" middy with large gas port.
There are huge differences in buffer weights on AR15 carbines. They vary from 2.9 oz up to over 4 oz, and rifle buffers are around 5.3 oz. There's a thread where I posted most of the buffer weights out there, to include a few speciality buffers. In my 16", I've only used the Spike's ST-T2 buffer, with great results across bullet and charge weights. Locks back every time, no malfs.
