One thing I have been thinking about is what if the chamber and factory ammunition was rated to a higher Maximum Average Pressure, like 55,000psi or more.
We have seen several people with factory ammunition and jammed projectiles into the throat, fire that ammunition and see excessive pressure signs like pierced primers, blown primers, significant ejector channel extrusion, and very high velocities, in some cases, 300-400fps faster than where they should be.
I think the 50,000psi helps keep factors of safety nicely in check, which helps prevent catastrophic failures from happening when mistakes like this arise. What's scary is that we didn't see any broken bolts, so whatever bolts were used seem to be extremely tough.
