Optimum 6.5 Grendel bullet weights

Incidentally, I keep coming across reference to the "brown tip" 5.56mm ammo but no details. I gather from the OP here that it is a 70-grain Barnes TSX loading optimised for use in very short-barrelled carbines only used by SOCOM. Some questions:

1. Does it have a SOCOM MK number, like the MK262?

2. Does it literally have a brown tip - i.e. is it painted?

3. Any data on MV in different barrel lengths?

You gather right, Tony. It is a 70gr TSX load.

1. I'm pretty sure it does not have a Mk-number. Probably has a DODIC identifier, but I don't recall ever seeing it referred to as anything other than "brown tip" or "5.56mm Optimized."

2. Yes, the tip is painted brown.

3. I haven't seen any MV figures.
