Mega makes good stuff and I have had my eye on that upper......but, then you need to track down a compatible carrier, which may be tough.

Hello I may be able to answer questions anyone has regarding Side Charging AR-15 Uppers, as for the Mega Billet Side Charging Upper Receiver I used one of those for my 1st Long Range Grendel Build, and it is Awesome, still.. Youngs Manufacturing makes an Awesome National Match side Charging BCG that you can buy, each one is hard-chrome or phosphate coated and each carrier is chrome-lined in the bolt throat. at Rainiers, here is the link> https://www.rainierarms.com/?page=shop%2...acturer=68 Young's Manufacturing supplies the BCG for Alexander Arms Side Charging Upper & Mega Machine supplies the Billet Upper for them as well. So, if you buy those 2 items, you will basically be assembling a Alexander Arms Billet Side Charging Upper, just like the one that I Built. The fit finish & function of the Mega Machine Billet side charging upper receiver, combined with the Young's Manufacturing Hard Chrome National Match side Charging BCG, won't leave you feeling disappointed in anyway at all! They are Great, and you can also buy a Carbon plug that slides into the upper where the charging handle use to go, to keep the Gasses from Blowing back into your face.. I'll have to dig up the name of the website where I've purchased them & post it if anyone decides they want to buy one? But it sure leaves the AR with a clean looking and completed finish with the Charging Handle Removed. I will try to post a few pictures on this post just for info purposes (Not to Highjack this thread in anyway at all) and can also move it if needed?
I have been searching for the very Best Side Charging Upper made since 2007. As a result I now own quite a few of them, and learned a Lot in the process such as, you Don't want to use a suppressor on an LAR OPS4 upper receiver, Especially the Ambidextrous upper because of Gas Blowback & it was Not designed for suppressor use! This information was Given to me from LAR's Gunsmith Luke (I Hope he kept his job)
Luke, the Gunsmith with LAR (LAR,Now Defunct since they were bought-out) by the Remington Group Corporation!~
I Have a LAR OPS4 Right side Charging upper that I have used on a Grendel Build & it worked Great. I have an LAR OPS4 Ambidextrous charging handle AR that is Built on the Operator Platform, sitting in my safe & only fired a few times. It's nice, but after owning 3 different LAR's plus all of the Other Side Charging AR's that I have, I No longer like or Care Any Reciprocating Side Charging AR's!
I have an American Spirit Side Charging AR-15 but it has a Non Reciprocating Side Charging Handle and that is what I discovered works Best with a Suppressor and is just all around much Nicer, and Ultimately Safer. They are a little to Expensive for what you get due to some machining that has to be made to the Carrier so the Charging Handle will work.
I have found another company that makes a Really Nice Billet Upper Receiver with a Non Reciprocating Side Charging Handle that acts as a Forward Assist too. The Charging Handle isn't located Directly on the Left side, but more angled toward the Top at a 45 Degree angle similar to the FN- FNAL.
I Bought One about 6 weeks ago, and it is By Far my Favorite Side Charging Billet Upper Receiver, as well as the Best one that I have found since I began my search well over 7+ years ago.
I plan on converting Most of the AR's that I want to keep to that upper..
