6.5 Grendel PTG Reamer

I think the first thing on your comment needs to be accurate, the bullet was not hitting the lands but touching the free-bore or there lack of.
I talked to Steve a week ago about this and he said the same thing, he was going to do what people ask for and make free-bore for heavier bullets. Not sure if it will accommodate the 123gr to 129 or 140 but we'll see. PTG is currently making the reamer, its in process. I will not have them deviate from the original since I do not know if the material being removed will open it up and once the barrel is heated up, will it become less accurate? That is an unknown to me. I know Steve would not do what he is doing if he felt there was a compromise but I'm satisfied with the way it is.

Your barrel will be in good hands and I think this entire issue got out of hand but now the Grendel II will handle heavier bullets from the get go and make everyone happy.

I think that is his intentions, customer satisfaction.

What the hell are you talking about regarding a "Grendel II"?...that is total BS.

The SAAMI spec chamber handles 123 SST/A-Max just fine. Everyone else's (with the sole exception of Shivesy's McGowen barrel which was reamed with another PTG reamer) has been fine.

I'm still bothered by the attributed comment from S. Satern saying the throat is NOT part of the SAAMI spec. If he really believes that, then his comments regarding his PTG reamer being in spec is very suspect.

It also goes back to SAAMI specifies the MINIMUM chamber, and MAXIMUM cartridge. The reamer maker must make the reamer such that the resulting chamber is in spec. I don't think there is a spec, per se, for the reamer.

Thank God that Bill A. maintained such tight control of the pre-SAAMI chamber!...now we see why!
