Yes, all that you need to do on Cerakote is sand the problem area, de-grease, re-coat it, and bake it on again. You can damage Cerakote, but it takes a certain amount of impact or engraving force to accomplish from something very hard.

I've rubbed brass screws across an upper, with the point of the screw to show how hard it is. The brass will rub off, but not tear up the finish, if applied properly.
