My Grendel

This rifle started life back in the spring when I intended to just build a 5.56 SPR until I started reading about the 6.5 Grendel over the summer. I wanted a long range AR but couldn't afford a .308 AR and since I had an upper and lower already, just seemed the right way to go.
The upper and lower I had were Aero Precision that I bought as a set and fit together with zero movement. Of course, someone posted on the facebook page about the barrel group buy about a side-charging upper he machines so I decided to see if he could do one for me. Now the upper is a DPMS slick-side with super thick walls. Jared machined a groove as seen below and added a charging knob. The DPMS upper still fits the lower nice and tight so I'm happy. The stock is the Ace Skeleton stock (my favorite), Magpul grip and standard trigger FCG. It still has a regular charging handle so the bolt can be removed when the know is off. The carrier still comes out fairly easy without it so if I can get a plug machined I may just remove the charging handle. Currently I have a standard A2 length buffer but I'd like to try a JP SIlent Capture spring when I can get one.
Up top the DPMS upper, a standard bolt carrier with the new 6.5 bolt. The Satern Liberty 18" barrel from the group buy that was well executed by XCR, a low profile gas block, DS Arms aluminum free-float tube, and the Alexander Arms Millennium compensator.
I added a sling stud to the tube for the bipod (which is a cheapo for now). The scope pictured is a Primary Army 3X but next month I'll get a decent mil-dot scope and rings. I'm thinking either a fixed 10x or a variable around 4-16x, but haven't decided yet. May be budget driven somewhat. Next trip to the range is January 20, I have a box of 123gr A-max I'll run through it and may see what else I can find, for comparrison. My plan now it to do a DuraCoat job on it and I'm looking at overall OD Green.
