Because there is more projectile weight, there is more chance of complete perforation with anything that is high-power rifle, hence the beauty of 5.56 for CQB.

Shoot a 45gr or 50gr varmint load in a 5.56 in the house from a gun with a polished and blended set of feed ramps, and you're golden as to tissue destruction with no over-penetration.
