In my mind, it makes zero sense to call or request letters from ATF on anything, since they are literally an organization tasked with infringing on the right of the people to keep and bear arms after Johnson's 1968 Gun Control Act.

By recognizing them as a legitimate organization, it confuses them, and makes them actually think that they are worthy of oxygen and our tax dollars.

Unfortunately, they have to be reckoned with. I suppose if you steer clear of any/all licensing and/or business ventures under their purview, you can stay below their radar.
