CZ527 precision gunsmith recommendations?

My friend had CZ's Custom Shop convert his CZ527 using a Douglas Premium grade barrel, finished to 22". He said the 139gr Scenar was shooting into .25" for him at 100yds. He was an SF Sniper Instructor for many years of his career, and is big into reloading.

When I spoke with the head gunsmith, he said they used Rock barrels and when I asked about others (specifically a 20" Krieger 5R 1-8.5", same as on our AR), he completely dismissed the idea. "The rifle and cartridge are not worth it," was his response. Quite a thing to say for a man who, though an independent contractor, has a vested interest in the CZ reputation. I did not get the impression that he gave a hoot. Maybe he was just having a bad day and I should ask again.

If he has been enthusiastic, I would have done this last Spring. ¼ moa—I am onboard for that!
