Here's another thing I like about LaRue: He gets all his staff out, regardless of what their administrative or mechanical specialties are, and has them run through a day or two of formal high-volume shooting with AR15's to understand the importance of their products. If every company would invite their employees to participate in the end-user experience with their products, we'd live in a different world for the better.
I just got back from the range, and had an opportunity to run a competitor's scope mount through its paces. Zeroed early in the morning, got a nice, tight cluster POA/POI, and proceeded to run the gun through numerous high-volume drills throughout the day. Temps were in the 90's, and we really heated the guns up. Before hitting the road, I just wanted to assess if the zero had shifted any, or if it was still good to go...
It was off by 2" to the right at 25yds, no elevation shift, and a tighter group than I shot in the morning. I now have to determine if it's the scope turret, the mount, or the barrel/upper combo, or maybe heat just did its thing. Gun is free-floated with Troy TRX Etreme 13", barrel is nitrocarburized 16" M4 profile, barrel nut was torqued, backed off, then torqued again 2x during installation, and the gun ran line a champ, with no malf's at all after 400+ rounds burned through it within 4 hours of shooting. I'm thinking it's either the scope or the mount, but since the elevation did not shift at all, that points more to the mount. I was actually really impressed with the mount, but now I'm unsure. I'll refrain from ID'ing the mount and optic until I get a better idea of what actually is going on, but I will say the mount is not LaRue.
