With the .338 Norma Magnum, does it have a good BC? It makes sense that if we want to keep a GP MG then to move up to a heavier cartridge. Then merge the 5.56 and 7.62 rounds into one 6.5mm GPC

If a 6.5mm GPC proves to have sufficiently good performance, a strong case can be made for replacing 5.56 and 7.62 NATO with it.

However, the .338 LWMMG is really a niche weapon, with ammo much too heavy for the MMG/GPMG role, and lacking the range of a .50 HMG and destructive capability of a 40mm GMG. It'd be nice to have for a few dismounted infantry scenarios, and for arming some very lightweight vehicles, but it's poorly suited for general purpose use.
