Bags or bipods?

I used to use a Harris in the field however find it's a big forward weight to lug around.

Those Caldwell or Triad cordura bags filled with the ultra light-weight material found in aircraft pillows (the horseshoe type sold at airports) works for me. It's the fine white stuff that weighs almost nothing. Triad Tactical bags come filled with some plastic bead material but we change it out for the ultra light stuff. You know you have the right stuff when it blows around in the breeze and sticks to your clothes while filling. The weight then becomes the cordura bag only so you can clip it to your belt or vest for ready use.

When zeroing at the range it is a front rest and rear bag filled with sand. The front rest has cordura interface, not leather. The reason being leather sticks if it gets wet in the rain. Some guys throw a small talcum/baby powder dispenser into their kit and sprinkle a bit on the rests. Only helps if the rifle has a smooth surface to slide however (not Pickitinny).

Be careful filling bags with any food material. I made this mistake a while back and ended up with a weevil infestation.
