I believe the TYPE I default came about from the near impossibility for customers in getting the Grendel bolts. Being on their Pro Staff gives me a pretty good pipeline when questions arise.

BHW is local to me. About 3 months ago I ordered a 16" barrel/bolt combo to see what all the hoopla was about. I received it and the bolt last month:

I did not specify the bolt, intentionally, because I wanted to see what they would ship. Guess what I got? And my AA bolts seem to lock up just fine as well.
The barrel looks awesome. I haven't put it together, because I was hoping to build it out with a special upper/lower. I just haven't done it yet. Waiting on a trigger, among other things.
As for the LBC chamber, yes, it was designed around the deeper bolt. Les Baer ONLY uses the deeper bolt and he designed it, thats why its called a Les Baer, but many people have modified the depth so that they could use the shallow bolt face for differeent reasons, not the least of which is they had some source for shallow bolts!
