The M-14 was a tarted up M1 Garand with a magazine and a slightly smaller round trying to replace three weapons. It was and is a fine weapon for what it is for but it isn't all things to all Soldiers, and no weapon can be. We need a range of rounds.

We are getting no new rifle because of sequester.
