Dan Lilja warns against hand lapping a finished barrel. They hand lap barrel blanks before the barrel is contoured and chambered. He explains on his website that the hand lapping process opens up the bore at the two ends. They cut several inches off of he muzzle end and cutting the chamber removes the larger bore section at that end. Read his FAQ section for a better explanation.
