From what I can find Carpenter 158 is a proprietary Steel Alloy of Carpenter.
According to below link to a machinist forum it's identical to P2 Tool Steel.

According to azom.com:

Manganese, Mn 0.45-0.65
Silicon, Si 0.15-0.30
Phosphorus, P 0.025 (max)
Sulfur, S 0.025 (max)
Molybdenum, Mo 0.08-0.15
Carbon, C 0.08-0.13
Composition of P2 Tool Steel
Element Content (%)
C 0.10
Mn 0.10-0.40
Si 0.10-0.40
Cr 1.25-1.75
Ni 0.10-0.50
Mo 0.15-0.40
Cu 0.25
P 0.03
S 0.03
The mechanical Properties are nearly Identical
9310
Properties Metric Imperial
Elastic modulus 190-210 GPa 27557-30458 ksi
Poisson's ratio 0.33 0.33
P2 Tool Steel
Properties Metric Imperial
Hardness, Rockwell C 58.0-64.0 58.0-64.0
Poisson's ratio 0.27-0.30 0.27-0.30
Elastic modulus 190-210 GPa 27557-30457 ksi
I've never used azom or the machinist forum before, so I have no idea of the accuracy of the sources.
Hopefully will chime in that know more about the properties of this materials.
If this data is relatively close I'd rather go with the metal with the higher Nickel concentration.
I'd be more interested into why Bill A. and Mark at PF chooses to use 9310.
