Dogue, I agree that having a gun on your property in TX is not illegal but if you draw it on a LEO then you will have a problem on your hands. I also totally agree that this wouldn't have happened had they gone to the right house. Was the alarm still going off? Couldn't they hear which house it was? Maybe it had stopped.
I'm not relieving the cops of any wrong doing at all. I think they made a few errors, but as gun owners we have a responsibility as well. I'm trying to us this as a learning experience so if I'm ever faced with a situation, how would I best handle it.
The biggest lesson for me is to know the situation and surroundings. Don't go outside, possibly into harms way without assessing and confirming as much as possible while in the safety of your home.
