This began well before Obama came into office (at least CCl4 got that part right). It began with the fall of the Berlin wall and the dismantling of our military. Yes, our military is much, much smaller now than it was in 1991.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union and our withdrawal from many areas of the world in the name of the "peace dividend", there was a distinct power vacuum in the former "republics" that comprised the USSR. The Soviets (and Chinese) did a "magnificent" job in keeping radical islam in check. Without the USSR, radical islam was enabled to grow (in part from seeds we planted to keep the soviets busy).
Instead of engaging and rooting out the small weeds, we allowed them to grow and take root.
This is the result of the "peace dividend"…and the result of the "Bottom up Review". This is the result of not having the national intestinal fortitude to stay the course when engaging enemies instead of cutting and running when things get ugly.
This is how the USS Cole gets bombed in port when on a refueling stop (because Clinton cut all the oilers/tankers from the fleet as part of the peace dividend and Bottom up Review).
This is the result of not engaging al Qaeda after the first Twin Towers bombing…the result of lobbing missiles and asking for flight clearance from Pakistan (who tipped off bin Laden) instead of sending teams on the ground to capture/kill bin Laden (under Clinton) when we had him in our sights.
This is NOT some vast conspiracy to support the military industrial complex.
I don't believe Bush 43 intended to tread on our rights, but that is what happened with the Patriot Act. Obama certainly wants to transform this country, but not for the military industrial complex…but rather because he is a socialist at heart who happens to despise what Great Britain and the US have done in the past.
We (in the military) were talking about lower level threats (like radical islam) in the early 90's…Clinton and his administration failed to listen, recognize and act. For his part, Bush 43 was cruising along the same path when 9/11 wake up call came. Thank God algore wasn't in office then…

This doesn't explain the apathy this nation "government" seems to have towards Christian persecution around the world especially with our military and financial aid in Egypt , Afghanistan , and Iraq. The insanity of not profiling middle eastern people and groping old lady's in airports I could chalk up to the PC morons on the left who also want to end our gun rights , but not our policies I was talking about earlier. With out out financial support these country's would dry up and blow away. So why the apathy?
