First, we're not talking about trial lawyers arguing a case before judge and jury. Second, my point is that either the US JAG is right, or the UK and other countries are right, but one side necessarily must be wrong.

Any good attorney will tell you that, at best, all he can give you is an opinion (a very learned opinion). Only a judge can give a ruling that has the force of law. And it takes an appellate level court (panel of judges) to give a ruling stature.
