After indoctrination as to the history of the US Civil War in both private and public schools, my own studies point to a dynamic where the Northern Industrialists and the Southern Agriculturalists were instigated into a Civil War by foreign powers in Europe, who sought to divide and conquer their former colonies to regain the most promising real estate discovered in the exploration era, but where the pesky colonists removed the yoke of bondage of their despotic king.
When you study the Northern naval blockades on Southern exports on both the Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions, you start to understand the nature of the war more. The policies of the British, Spanish, French, and Russian governments is also enlightening as to the nature of the US Civil War. Abraham Lincoln's comments about the most formidable enemy he faced during the war sealed his fate on earth when he said:
"I have two great enemies., the southern army in front of me, and the financial institutions, in the rear. Of the two, the one in the rear is the greatest enemy...I see in the future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in ther midst of the war."
