There are very few places on earth where you have the homogeneity of a single language across a continental figure like the US in North America, with the world's 3rd largest population speaking it (or whatever they learned from other attention-deficit peers in public school nowadays, hooked on SMS message degradation of our tongue in the wake of the bastardization of English by the hip-hop wannabe gangsta culture).

My mom immigrated here and only spoke English with me, much to my chagrin, as learning her mother tongue isn't something you just do as an adult.

I will tell you all that after donating a significant portion of my life in the service of this great Nation, just seeing our Flag in the breeze is a very emotional experience for me as I think of those friends of mine who had their lives ahead of them, but lost them and left families back home grieving. I do feel a prominent sense to live a little better every day for them, and to cherish the lives we have, along with our unique and overwhelmingly blessed freedoms here in the US, a choice Nation above others.
