I bought one of the AR Stoner 16" barrel and bolt combos from Midway a couple of months ago (when they were briefly available). It isn't fluted or anything fancy ( I thought about taking it to a local machine shop but money is tight now ).
I mounted it on an M4 upper that I got on Gunbroker for 150 bucks ( ouch ) but THE GOOD NEWS was that they forgot to ship it to me, and when I complained, they threw in ANOTHER ONE for free!!!
I then got the bolt carrier from a contact that BWAITES had up in Washington somewhere, got a charging handle from Spikes Tactical and a flash hider from VLTOR.
The handguard is a Daniel Defence and I like it a lot because its thin and easy to grip. The little rails come off and you can put them wherever you like. I got it from Joe Bob outfitters up in Iowa. I am concerned as to how hot it will get with a lot of shooting, but otherwise it seems really great!!!!
The gas block and tube I got off of Amazon.com; The gas block is cheap chinese UTG crap but I think it will do for a while. I don't trust set screws so I always want a gas block that clamps firmly onto the barrel. This one was 24 bucks I think... hard to beat right now.
I had the lower all ready and waiting.... It also has a Spikes T2 heavy buffer ( I love those things )
I have yet to shoot it but there will be a range report when I do....
