.750" is the smallest I would go for a gun that's going to ride the bench. Normally I use a .936" gas block journal on my heavy rifles. For anything medium-light, I use .750", and for anything super light, .625".
That was sort of what I was thinking LRRPF52. I'm going with a Brux Barrel and they flute their barrels before it is rifled. They say it is the first thing done. Now I'm getting the impression that my barrel would 0.875 OD under the hand guard and through to the gas block. Thanks for the tip and info.
