We can neither be ostriches burying our heads in the sand nor can we be panicked into extreme defensive measures. A subtly relevant episode was Nancy Pelosi's guidance to the rank and file democrats that "you can can read the health care proposal after you've voted for it." It passed both houses without being read in full.
This should raise alarm bells about our rights and clearly indicates an example of a ruling elite dictating policy to the entire country. These events illustrate the continuing need for speaking out and for preparing for our defense. The deterrent inherent in the 2nd amendment keeps our freedom of speech alive.
These and other recent and not so recent events illuminate the need to become a lot more actve in communicating to the larger population of the urban areas.
