Securing our border is important. That is a festering disaster.

BUT it has little to do with illegal immigrants in society, once they have arrived. MOST illegal immigrants have nothing to do with the drug trade or terrorism, they are simply people who want a better life. Had I been born in Mexico, I would do ANYTHING it took to get to the US and find work.

They are by nature a conservative group that the Republicans (hereafter referred to as the Stupid Party) has done everything they can to drive into the arms of the democrats. Hispanics are natural conservatives, and yet the conservative arm of our political system has simply pushed them towards the party that has NO real similar beliefs by not espousing a determined plan for immigration.

Its a huge failure by the Stupid Party!

I couldn't agree more! I fully support Rick Perry in the primaries when he talked about how he offered illegal immigrants in-state tuition, unlike the majority of republicans. I'd much rather have the illegal immigrants here become productive citizens of this country and not need to result to illegal activities to make a decent living.

However, if we offer anybody who can get across our border, an easy path to citizenship we'll see a flood of illegal immigrants across the border.

Once we close the border and have the ability to prevent that from happening, I'll fully support offering a REASONABLE path to citizenship to the ones already here.

All that being said the Republican Party has to reach out to Hispanics. I think you start by offering a solution to the violence in Mexico affecting their family, that's still there.

I believe you do that by stopping the flow of drugs into this country, from Mexico. The law of unintended consequences will bare its ugly face here, with the violence getting worse for a period of time. This I believe will be due to the drug cartels losing the majority of their income and struggling to maintain power. I'd support military support here, as long as we lead the operation on our terms.
