It's important to have lists of gun-owners and those who will be a thorn in the side of an invading force...standard procedure for ever foreign army that planned its invasion well. The communists went in ahead of time and cleaned up the resistance cells in Eastern Europe before invading.
I suspect our data will be handed over to the waves of narco-terrorists from down south, if they don't have the information already, that way they can make their stops after DHS has done their work pre-invasion, during the food riots and civil war.
