Politics. You have the libtards that don't want to drill for oil or allow fracking to get more oil and natural gas. If we moved to natural gas, we could render the Middle East and Venezuela irrelevant to our energy usage.

Saudi Arabia (11.0%)
Venezuela (10.1%)
Nigeria (8.4%)
IIRC, adding all the Middle East sources (including Saudi) amounted to 18%.
