One other thing, can you tell me why we destroy the infrastructure of our enemies and then we rebuild and pay for it. WTF?

Didn't always use to be that way...but in modern times stems from WW1 where Germany was obliterated and then suffered miserably in the post war years. It gave rise to a nationalist movement that leveraged the economic misery into national pride, then a military take-over leading to WW2.

Post WW2, we subsidized the rebuilding of Europe and Japan, and stabilized western Europe against the Soviets. Not that there wasn't civil unrest for a good while afterwards, but it was controllable.

You want stability in Iraq, then they need economic stability as an inoculation against radicalism. High unemployment leads to dissatisfaction and civil unrest, and radical elements become empowered. Iraq has much better chance of success compared to Afghanistan because they have a history of an educated class. They take pride in being the cradle of civilization.

If you're really into history, you can go back to Alexander the Great and see how he treated the conquered lands...he embraced and co-opted them and built them up in order to stabilize them to eliminate future threats.
