As an LEO I am always more comfortable contacting a CCW holder that respectfully informed me that they were legally armed than some hook that I just assumed was armed. At lease I was fairly confident that the CCW was a upstanding citizen and was not going to do anything to promote an armed confrontation with me.

Definitely. When someone says "I have a weapon to declare...", I know that the chances of them being on the up and up are higher.
