Sometimes the mounting configuration of rings, bases, and barrel orientation can stack up for a ton of MOA adjustments that work against your ability to dial for any more usable elevation for your trajectory. If your rifle has a generally great mechanical zero as far as barrel/receiver/scope mounts is concerned, you will need less elevation to adjust to your zero. This is another benefit of trued actions and barrel threads.
Another problem, even if you barely have enough elevation to get to your farthest intended distance, is the windage adjustment that will no longer be able to be dialed for significant wind-drift since your erector tube is bottomed-out against the inside of the scope tube body.
Another important thing about this is keeping your scope as close to optical true as possible, which is the case when your erector tube with its lenses is centered with the objective and ocular lenses of the scope body. Deviation from the scope tube center actually warps the increment marks in many scopes, from what I understand, so it is a generally-accepted caveat among long-range shooters that MOA canted bases are the best way to go.
Hopefully, with whatever optic you own, you will not even get close to your maximum elevation adjustment for this reason, which is why the extreme long-range tube bodies are often offered in 34mm and 35mm. Hope this explanation helps...
