I was mortified to find out my Senator (Joe Manchin) is prepared to cave already.

I sent him the heartfelt reply below:
"I have heard and read the clips of you saying "everything" is on the table.
I am one of those hunters who use an "Assault Weapon" to hunt with. The term "Assault Weapon" is a farce. The weapons you are talking about are simply semi-autmatic and semis have been around for over a hundred years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_firearm
I have voted for you consistently up until now. I assure you-- if you cave in to the anti gunners--- I will never vote for you again. I won't just vote against you, I'll actively support, donate to, and campaign for anyone who runs against you. I will make it my political mission to work with anyone I can to get you thrown out of office. I will not tolerate you attempting to erode my second amendment rights any farther.
If the crazy killer had used a car to run over children would you have been calling for a ban on cars? What if he'd used arson to do it? Would you be calling for a ban on gasoline or other flammable substances? Maybe you'd ban matches and cigarette lighters? In Rowanda they used machetes and hammers, you'd better get started on those too I guess.
The second ammendment isn't about deer hunting and you know it. Stop pretending that is what it is for, you know better. It is explicitly for our protection from a tyrannical government, and you seem to be actively seeking to further that tyranny. I am very saddened by your apparent lack of judgement regarding this issue. I never thought you'd join the progressives in their attempts to use panic and emotion to destroy our freedom in the name of illusory "safety". Shame on you, and I hope you come to your senses before you do any permanent damage.
