Maybe we should give some thought to the Government (under Ronald Reagan)which shut down the mental health system. All these whackos have appeared since then. The schools are full of kids who have the potential to do terrible things but there is no available system to intervene anymore. Ask any teacher and I bet they will say the same thing.

While this occurred in the 80's (with roots in the 70's), it was not Reagan who championed this. It was led by liberal sociologists and mental health advocates who clamored for patients rights...represented, in part, by the ACLU.

This is part of the "liberal" mindset...while I would agree there were some abuses of the mental health system, it could certainly have been cleaned up versus virtually eliminating those institutions.
