An excited Colonel's son who is getting ready for officer training asks him:

"Father, after service as a Lieutenant, will I be a Captain?"

"Yes, of course you'll be a Captain."

"Father, if I do well, will I then be a Major?"

"Yes of course, you'll become a Major.

"And a Colonel...?"

"Yes, even a Colonel one day."

"Father, could I then become...a General?"

Sadly, the father replied..."No son. You will NOT become a General..."

"And why not father?"

"The Generals have sons too, young lad."
