These are concerns shared by many. One can get 7.62x39 magazines for the Model 16, which should resolve at least part of the question. As far as accuracy potential between "micro" and "short" action rifles, a lot will depend on the level of accuracy one needs. I suspect that 99% of us could not tell the difference, even if it exists.
Best bet is to get onto the Savage Shooters Forum, read relevant threads, and pose your own questions when appropriate.
