As a side thought:
I just switched from Hornady to Redding dies and my ejected shells switched from 4-5 o'clock to three o'clock.
ejection moved to the 3:00/2:30 position. It seems to eject at 3:00 more often than not, but will spit some a little more forward. I guess I can't expect much better without moving to a steel buffer body. Recoil seems lightened a little. It still seems to be reliably cycling and holding back. I think I can live with it.
I also changed the buffer tube(vltor 5 position) and hammer(non-cut). It's amazing what a difference these small parts/details make. I am coming to find that a smooth the action is less about what fancy carrier you have, and more about what trigger and buffer components you have. Well, assuming that you're using the right hammer with the right carrier anyway. I have a Melonite treated PWS DI carrier, and a DPMS TiN coated carrier, yet it's the standard phosphate carrier on my A2 style lower that's the smoothest action. Having said that, the PWS carrier I still hold as being superior. It's just interesting.
