Honestly I don't know, however, I am willing to bet that mathematically it does. What I mean by that is, the scope probably does have some stability issues mounted to the handguard and reciever but, they may be negligable enough not to adversly affect the scope's function. This may be a reason why cantilever mounts are popular because it allows for 1. greater eye relief and 2. mounting the optic to a "solid" piece. The picture there of the Mk12 Mod 0 uses a Swan sleve which ultimately acts as kind of cantilever mount. It is secured to the upper reciever with four crossbolts and rides along the top of the PRI FF handguard. Monolithic uppers offered from LMT and others mfg's is another solution to this kind of question as well as maintaining a repeatable zero for additional removable accessories such as a AN/PAQ-4 . The inherent modularity of the AR-15 system causes some of these concerns. Hope that helps a little.
