As I see it a Micro actioned Grendel bolt action is good for two things, a light recoiling BR rifle and light weight with light recoil mountain rifle or still hunting rifle. So, why would you want a heavy barreled set-up for hunting"?
I'll try and answer your quetions/comments one at a time. Why would I use heavy barrel unless going to shoot BR with it? I am going to shoot BR with it. As I stated, I already have an old Bench Rest barrel in 6.5 lying around. What I did not say is that it was already a 6.5-06 and then a 6.5WSM. Stopped using it in 2003.
A micro actioned bolt gun is good for two things you say, light recoiling BR rifle and light recoiling mountain rifle. I don't get it. How can a person have a light recoiling BR (Bench Rest Rifle) and a Light recoiling mountain rifle at the same time. To me BR rifle implies a heavy 10-17 pound rifle and a mountain rifle implies a 6 pound rifle. If you are referring to Stokesrj, the Stolle Panda rifle he is referring to is a precision rifle. Neither one of us are talking about hunting rifles.

Here it is in short, I have an Old BR Barrel that has been lying around for 9 years. Going to experiment with the Grendal Case and a very short neck in a tight match chamber. Low speed deviations are what I'm looking for and I will shoot this rifle (if halfway accurate) in some 600yd or 1000yd matches. Probably with the 120 class bullets.
Again, Why use a heavy barrel? Because its free and it shot a 3.5" five shot group at the 2002 1000yd IBS National Championship right before I took it off. So it might still be halfway accurate.
