The 4-16x50 is more of a dedicated target/long-range scope, and is longer, heavier, & bulkier than the 2.5-10x44. If you're humping a heavy target gun, and getting in the prone, it's a great scope.
The 2.5-10x44 can do well at both hunting and target work, so is the more balanced option if your stated purposes are driven by a lot of hunting. This is how it profiles out with a 16" Grendel:

If it were available to civilians, I would point you in the direction of the NighForce 2.5-10x24, which is filling SPR/DMR demand with .mil currently, and is next to impossible to get. Price point is much higher.
