You can get tagged for pretty much the same thing here in some situations. There were some guys here locally several years back that thought it would be a good idea to dove hunt from a boom lift. Although it wasn't a vehicle for the purpose of transportation, it's still considered a motor vehicle. They got the book thrown at them and the rental company almost lost their lift.
I "hunt" from a Jeep all the time on private property. Nothing against that except for migratory birds which I believe is a federal reg. This is the summary from the reg.- "Animals and game birds not classified as migratory may be hunted from a motor vehicle, powerboat, sailboat, or from any other floating device within the boundaries of private property or upon private water"
