I started my first SBR 5.56 build with a Syrac Ordnance adjustable gas block. I would get carbon freeze within a range session and it was annoying to say the least. My friend got the superlative and never had issues. I remember the gas bleed off did not work well with the suppressor and he used the restrictor. Klem takes cleaning to a whole different level, but likely good advice. I have never had an adjustable gas block plug up even after thousands of rounds. I used the set and forget method on the syrac and still use it to this day. I just set it so I could shoot duty ammo (slightly over gassed) and regular loads would still be reliable. I dont shoot it without a suppressor though. If the SLR doesnt seize up after a couple hundred rounds or whatever your normal volume of fire is, then it sounds like a winner as well. With an 18 inch barrel, it should be very forgiving compared to a SBR.
