6.5 Grendel is SAAMI spec, but don't think 7.62x39 is. One thing to check is the barrel thread, although you can make it anything you want if you have the proper machines.
Do you plan to do the work yourself? Can you buy a new 6.5 Grendel barrel from Ruger?
Ruger doesnt sell replacement barrels! Thats why its just cheaper to buy another gun!
