6.5 Grendel V-Match

Is the 100 gr bullet going to be useful on hogs? If so, I’m interested.

Varmint bullets have proven to work well as medium game hunting bullets in 6.5 Grendel since they aren’t screaming out at 3200-3800fps mv, but are more in the 2700-3000fps mv range depending on barrel length.

From my 12” Grendel, I’m getting 2700fps with factory 90gr TNT, 2900fps from the 17.6” Lilja.

From a 20” Grendel, the 100gr ELD-VT should do 2820-2920fps with CFE-223.

Head shots might see exits, but thoracic hits will probably be entrances only with a lot of tissue destruction on the impact side.

Their gel testing shows rapid fragmentation of the ELD-VT bullets.

That 100gr is almost as good as a 107gr SMK in BC. I’m using the Litz BC for the SMK, not Sierra’s published numbers, which are under-stated.
