A 107-110gr with pointed tips and a long boat tail would increase the BC.
I just got some Fort Scott Munitions TUI 123gr, and they have pointed tips. Listed G1 BC is .571 so Im going to centerline them at 800yds and see how they perform compared to advertised BC.
The 123gr Scenar and 123gr SMK are legit .522-.527 G1/.260 G7.
107gr SMK is higher than Sierra advertises as well at .460 G1.
Like weve talked about for years, if they want a lighter weight flat-shooter, there are already several options for that and Hornady could do the 107-115gr A-TIP or TAP 6.5mm rounds.
When I ran the numbers between 6.5mm 107gr SMK and 6mm 108gr ELD-M, they just arent that different in terms of drop, although the 108gr does have wind deflection advantage that incrementally gets better with distance.
They both are really easy to hit partially-exposed targets at distance with though.
Grendel gives you far more top-end weights and visible target feedback that no 6mm can really deliver though.
Multiple Sniper Instructors Ive spoken with from both SF and USMC have all preached to me as if I never heard about 6.5 Grendel, and I just nodded because it was like listening to myself.

Agree with all your points, I'm just not in a position to set up a re-loading bench so stuck with factory ammo...
