I pulled a 22 bullet out of a deers hindquarter this past season. (Looked like a 22 hornet type bullet). It had healed over from a previous year.
We often see deer that have been wounded. Most are the same season and infected. When I see them walking I try to evaluate if they will make it or not, and kill if they are in bad shape. We were bird hunting last year and walked up on a deer that had just died. An adjacent landowner had a kid that made a shot right below the spine a couple of days before and had even seen the wounded deer on camera. I dont know how it lived that long with a hole through it.
