Unless there is a void in the shoulder/neck of the chamber, caused by a chip of metal breaking off then the chamber sounds generous but within spec.
Turning to the ammo - What about shooting some factory ammo? As you say, before going the nuclear option and swapping out the barrel a pack of factory ammo would eliminate everything associated with hand-loading (dies, bad powder batch, bullets shifting into the lands on being loaded etc).
