6.5 Grendel is much easier to shoot LR with because there is almost no recoil or muzzle climb, whereas with .260 Remington, 6.5CM, etc., you get sight picture disturbance almost like a .308 Win., which means its harder to see your own impacts on steel.
This is why so many LR competitors shoot 6 Dasher, 6mm Creedmoor, 6x47 Lapua, etc.
Grendel gives you the low recoil common to lighter-recoiling 6mms, but with more audible impact due to projectile diameter and weight.
For a new shooter, the learning curve is so much faster than with larger cartridges. Ive watched this process since 1995 over and over again, breaking-in a new shooter in the LR discipline.
We used to do everything with .308 Winchester/7.62x51 NATO, which required a spotter to provide you feedback, because you would rarely see your own impacts.
Grendel short-circuits that process immediately basically.
140-147gr 6.5CM doesnt have that much lower recoil energy compared to M80 147gr 7.62 NATO, so you still have to deal with sight picture disturbances and time of flight is so fast as to have very little opportunity to recover.
